God’s Heart for the World
By Brian McCurry
Flash back to 1994…. I was a college junior heading on a plane on my first overseas mission project. I was looking out of the plane window at the Atlantic Ocean below and two significant things hit me. I believe it was God speaking:
The world is much bigger than anything I had ever experienced.
God is much bigger than anything I had ever experienced.
Although I didn’t know what that summer would hold - meeting my future wife who was also on the trip, making lifelong friends, sharing the gospel with Slovak college students and watching the Jesus film at least 5 times (in Slovak) - those two truths became a reality for me. I have continually found them to be true 30+ years later after serving in many places around the world.
Flash forward to our future life in heaven… The Apostle John wrote down a vision of a scene from heaven in the book of Revelation. He saw, “a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands” (Revelation 7:9). Heaven will be populated by men, woman and children from all people groups. God truly has a heart for the whole world.
Flash backwards again to 2025. Today. How will God accomplish this future reality? He is using his church, his people, to accomplish the task. In fact, He commands us in His word to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). In this context, nations means “people groups.” Those are the diverse people that will be gathered together worshiping Jesus around the throne. God’s church.
We recently held an interest meeting about gathering a Wellspring team to serve on an international mission trip together in 2026. We are in the very early stages of the trip, but we want to be a church that serves together and makes disciples of all nations. Jump on board with us! You can learn more about the opportunities and send us any interest you may have on our Missions page.
God has a heart for the whole world! We can join him in this effort!
